About this deal

With suggestive bursts of ghostly appearances that become more and more frequent as the tale progresses, the old cliché of "am I going insane" is thrown into the equation, until finally the horrifying truth is revealed in an almost explosive manner. As they walk away from the mansion's ruins, Juliet absolves him of his guilt over her death and departs to the afterlife. This novel also includes a really clever – and fairly subtle – nod to Stanley Kubrick’s adaptation of Stephen King’s “The Shining” too, with a sub-plot about another character sensing that David is in distress and travelling to Edbrook to save him. At only 224 pages in length, you will find yourself wondering how you managed to get so absorbed in the novel in such a short span of pages.

We mainly use Royal Mail Tracked 48 Service for goods which weight less then 2kg, all other goods will be delivered by a Courier. But after reading this page-turner, I'd surmise that Herbert earned his status a different way: by providing serious readers with well-crafted, good-quality, extremely effective fiction, which is exactly what this is. His first novel, The Rats, was an instant bestseller and is now recognised as a classic of popular contemporary fiction. He wrote six more bestselling novels in the 1990s and three more since: Once, Nobody True and The Secret of Crickley Hall.

In 1928 England, English professor David Ash has spent most of his life working in the field of parapsychology to disprove the existence of ghosts. Ash shoved the suitcase over onto the backseat and eased himself into the front, keeping the holdall on his lap. But it didn't send me googling 'ending explained', as sometimes happens with paranormal fiction, and it had some nice touches of black humour which I appreciated.

Herbert does a good job providing backstory with a series of flashbacks and builds Ash's character up well. Its two heads weaved to and fro and a stickiness drooled from its mouth as it remembered the taste of human flesh . This protagonist, I must say, is constantly swishing vodka and smoking, - I suppose the smell of him would be unbearable to me in real life. Ash is renowned for debunking supernatural phenomenon, and he dives into this assignment ready to do just that.

Woven into this are flashbacks of his own life and work, which somehow seem to feed into what he's currently experiencing. We will process the refund due to you as soon as possible and, in any case within thirty (30) days of the day we confirm via e-mail that you are entitled to a refund for defective goods. At the beginning - I love me a Ghostbuster tries to debunk the haunted house story with lots of cliches. He is a man who is troubled ( and driven to alcoholism) by a tragic past and who tries to take a “scientific” attitude towards the paranormal as a way of repressing his own deep-seated fears about it.
