Sarah also studies the book used by Papa, On Horsemanship, a treatise on horsemanship by the Athenian historian and soldier Xenophon (c. There are a few continuity issues throughout the book and it gets a bit predictable towards the end but because of the ending, it is still satisfying. Finale non troppo verosimile (con la scampagnata in Francia…) ma molto, molto dolce, molto alla Moyes per intenderci e io ho adorato questa cosa… perché è questa la Moyes che voglio! Her dream is to follow in the grandfather's footsteps and ride with Le Cadre Noir in Saumur but when something terrible happens to Henri she is thrust into a catastrophic situation that is not only dangerous for her but may lead to her losing her best friend Boo forever.
It was a bit of a slog in parts just due to the length of the book but in the end it was totally worth it. I was lucky enough to have lessons with well known Classical Dressage instructor – and what JoJo has captured is so true and correct. And there he stood, charming them, perhaps already planning some new relationship with a younger, more beautiful partner. Henri surprises Sarah with tickets to go to France and see the Cadre Noir, but then he is suddenly hospitalized by a debilitating stroke. For me I was only able to have a horse when I could pay for it myself so, knowing I had to have a decent job to pay the livery, and basic care costs; I knuckled down at college but didn’t go to University.Meanwhile Natasha a children’s lawyer, along with her husband Mac of whom she recently separated from crosses paths with Sarah after her grand father had fallen ill and ends up taking her under her wing.
That's all I really want to say about the plot but believe me, there are so many twists and turns to this narrative that I was compelled to keep reading page after page, desperate to find out what happened to Sarah and Boo. She rents a cottage in the Kent countryside, a rural retreat which she escapes to when Mac is there at the weekends. She’s evoked emotions and memories and also made me question how far I would go to ensure my horse was safe.
Henri has been trying to train Sarah in the basics of dressage, an equestrian sport defined by the International Equestrian Federation as “the highest expression of horse training” in which “horse and rider are expected to perform from memory a series of predetermined movements. Told with Moyes' signature heart and memorable characters, this book will drag your heart through the mud and leave you with hope and happiness. Tash also had a devasting situation at work, in which a child for whom she had advocated may have turned out to be a criminal. Definitely read if you like horses, or even just enjoyed the dressage this summer (although the airs above the ground are rarely performed outside displays by La Cadre Noir and The Spanish Riding School of Vienna). I certainly didn't anticipate enjoying this novel as much as I did and I think fans of Jojo Moyes work will feel the same.
Jag gillar hur Moyes romaner är någon blandning mellan feelgood och literary ficiton, där det inte bara är fokus på kärleksparet utan också på så mycket annat, samtidigt som man vet att vad som än händer så kommer det sluta lyckligt. In the midst of wondering what to do about her charming ex-husband, she reads on someone else’s newspaper that one of the children she defended in court has committed a violent crime.
Moyes uses quotes from the book to head up each chapter and I have to say that my curiosity was piqued about how something so old, probably 500BC, was still venerated today. I really enjoyed the book and think other horse lovers would too, so here is my review of ‘The Horse Dancer’. A quintessential Jojo Moyes novel about a lost girl and her horse, the enduring strength of friendship, and how even the smallest choices can change everything. There are a few similarities between The Horse Dancer and her new novel, The Girl You Left Behind, especially the addition of legal aspects.
I started listening to books rather than reading as I found I just didn’t ever have the time or the inclination to sit and read anymore. Henri Lachappelle was part of an elite French calvary skilled in an art form of dressage dating back over 250 years. I think if you weren’t into horses that you would still find it a great read as it is so well written.Bellissimo il rapporto tra Sarah e Boo, la parte che riguarda i cavalli è molto dettagliata e ben fatta, molto bella. Their dedication to their dream of Sarah being able to ride in The Cadre Noir just like her grand father did.
