Benadryl allergy liquid release capsules contain 10mg cetirizine are suitable for adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over. How do Benadryl allergy liquid release capsules work?

Sudden signs of allergy such as rash, itching or hives on the skin, swelling of the face, lips, tongue or other parts of the body, shortness of breath, wheezing or trouble breathing. Patients with both liver and kidney disease should consult a physician before use. The physician should determine if a different dose is needed. In addition to the adverse reactions reported during clinical studies and listed above, the following undesirable effects have been reported in post-marketing experience. Measure liquid medicine with the dosing syringe provided, or with a special dose-measuring spoon or medicine cup. If you do not have a dose-measuring device, ask your pharmacist for one. Patients on haemodialysis (creatinine clearance less than 7 ml/min) given a single oral 10 mg dose of cetirizine had a 3-fold increase in half-life and a 70 % decrease in clearance compared to normal. Cetirizine was poorly cleared by haemodialysis. Dosing adjustment is necessary in patients with moderate or severe renal impairment (see section 4.2).

Frequencies are defined as follows: Very common (≥1/10); common (≥1/100 to <1/10); uncommon (≥1/1,000 to <1/100); rare (≥1/10,000 to <1/1,000); very rare (<1/10,000), not known (cannot be estimated from the available data) You can take a dose of this medicine to reduce allergy symptoms once they have started. Or you can take it in anticipation of getting allergy symptoms, for instance you can take a dose before leaving the house if you know there will be a high pollen count, or if you're visiting friends with a pet you're allergic to. You can also take it regularly every day to prevent symptoms, such as during the pollen season. Sudden onset of fever, reddening of the skin, or many small pustules (possible symptoms of Acute Generalised Exanthematous Pustulosis – AGEP) may occur within the first 2 days of treatment with this medicine. Anti Malaria Malaria is a serious tropical disease spread by mosquitoes. If it isn’t diagnosed and treated promptly, it can be fatal. A single mosquito bite is all it takes for someone to become infected. Symptoms of malaria It’s important to be aware of the symptoms of malaria if you’re travelling to areas where there’s a high risk of the disease. Symptoms include: 1. A high temperature of 38C or above 2. Feeling hot and shivery 3. Headaches 4. Vomiting 5. Muscle pains 6. Diarrhoea Symptoms usually appear between 7 and 18 days after becoming infected, but in some cases the symptoms may not appear for up to a year, or occasionally even longer. When to seek medical attention Seek medical help immediately if you develop symptoms of malaria during or after a visit to an area where the disease is found. You should still seek medical help even if it’s several weeks, months or a year after you return from travelling. If there’s a possibility you have malaria, a blood test will be carried out to confirm whether or not you’re infected. You should receive the results of your blood test on the same day. If you have malaria, treatment will… It is not known whether Benadryl will harm an unborn baby. Ask a doctor before using this medicine if you are pregnant.

Antihistamines may oppose the effect of histamine (used to treat leukaemia) and are not recommended for people having this treatment. Antihistamines may also oppose the effect of betahistine (used to treat Ménière's disease) so this medicine is probably best avoided if you're taking betahistine. Renally impaired patients: The pharmacokinetics of the drug were similar in patients with mild impairment (creatinine clearance higher than 40 ml/min) and healthy volunteers. Patients with moderate renal impairment had a 3-fold increase in half-life and 70 % decrease in clearance compared to healthy volunteers. Clinical studies have shown that cetirizine at the recommended dosage has minor adverse effects on the CNS, including somnolence, fatigue, dizziness and headache. In some cases, paradoxical CNS stimulation has been reported. In addition to its anti-H 1 effect, cetirizine was shown to display anti-allergic activities: at a dose of 10 mg once or twice daily, it inhibits the late phase recruitment of eosinophils, in the skin and conjunctiva of atopic subjects submitted to allergen challenge. Always read the label. Ask your pharmacist for advice. At the recommended dosage, BENADRYL ® products do not cause drowsiness in the majority of sufferers. In most people Benadryl Allergy Relief does not cause drowsiness. However, there are rare exceptions and you should take care when you use this product for the first time. If this product makes you feel drowsy, do not drive or operate machinery. Benadryl Allergy Relief should not be taken whilst under the influence of alcohol.

Cetirizine, a human metabolite of hydroxyzine, is a potent and selective antagonist of peripheral H 1-receptors. In vitro receptor binding studies have shown no measurable affinity for other than H 1-receptors. Hepatically impaired patients: Patients with chronic liver diseases (hepatocellular, cholestatic, and biliary cirrhosis) given 10 or 20 mg of cetirizine as a single dose had a 50 % increase in half-life along with a 40 % decrease in clearance compared to healthy subjects.

Uses / Instructions

Treating allergies such as hay fever, pet allergies and dust mite allergies (seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis). In a placebo-controlled study, cetirizine given at the high daily dose of 60 mg for seven days did not cause statistically significant prolongation of QT interval. In a six-week, placebo-controlled study of 186 patients with allergic rhinitis and concomitant mild to moderate asthma, cetirizine 10 mg once daily improved rhinitis symptoms and did not alter pulmonary function. This study supports the safety of administering cetirizine to allergic patients with mild to moderate asthma. Cetirizine does not undergo extensive first pass metabolism. About two third of the dose are excreted unchanged in urine. The terminal half-life is approximately 10 hours. Elderly: Following a single 10 mg oral dose, half-life increased by about 50 % and clearance decreased by 40 % in 16 elderly subjects compared to the normal subjects. The decrease in cetirizine clearance in these elderly volunteers appeared to be related to their decreased renal function.
