About this deal

The Magic Keyboard is a full-size keyboard that uses the same scissor switch mechanism that Apple first implemented in the 2019 16-inch MacBook Pro and the 2020 ‌MacBook Air‌.

The Magic Keyboard Folio, on the other hand, simply comes in a White colourway. While we do not have a dedicated review for this Keyboard, we do have a lot of experience using it alongside the latest iPad 10th-generation, which will help to inform this versus.

Instead of a case that you snap the iPad Pro into, it's designed so you can simply plop the iPad Pro onto the mount magnetically. There are multiple strong magnets on either side of the mount to keep the iPad Pro in place. There is no chance your iPad will slip away from the magnetic connection without a serious jolt. If you were able to place the iPad directly onto the keyboard base at the exact angle it sits when fully open, you'd cut off the number keys row entirely. This hover design allows for plenty of keyboard space, while also providing enough wrist pad distance for you to comfortably set the palm of your hands if that's how you type. The Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro actually wins a lot of points for its thinness. It's significantly thinner than most keyboard cases I've used. Not thinner than the Smart Keyboard case, of course, but much thinner than the Brydge Pro+.

The displays have rounded corners. When measured diagonally as a rectangle, the iPadPro 12.9″ screen is 32.77cm (12.9″), the iPadPro 11″ screen is 27.96cm (11″), theiPadAir and iPad (10thgeneration) screens are 27.58cm (10.86″), and the iPadmini screen is 21.08cm (8.3″). Actual viewable area isless. Moreover, the Magic Keyboard boasts a USB-C port to make charging the iPad easier, which the Magic Keyboard Folio does not. This may be because the Magic Keyboard Folio is compatible with the baseline of iPads, rather than the more expensive iPad Pro range that the Magic Keyboard pairs with.

The Magic Keyboard is compatible with any 12.9-inch iPad Pro model after the 3rd generation model, which includes the latest iPad Pro M2 2022. There’s also a version for all the iterations of the 11-inch iPad Pro, and the 4th and 5th gen of iPad Air. There aren't a lot of options for an iPad keyboard that doesn't end up with an imbalance between the base and the iPad. Brydge, actually, seems to have come the closest with an infinite number of adjustable angles, though if you go past the sweet spot, it'll start to tip over. Of course, Apple’s own apps are optimized for the Magic Keyboard, as they were for the Smart Keyboard Cover, but have other major word processors caught up? Well, Word and Google Docs both haven’t optimized for Apple’s smarter cursor, that snaps to objects and adjusts from a dot to a cursor when you move to a text field.

To access and use all Apple Card features and products available only to Apple Card users, you must add Apple Card to Wallet on an iPhone or iPad that supports and has the latest version of iOS or iPadOS. Apple Card is subject to credit approval, available only for qualifying applicants in the United States, and issued by Goldman Sachs Bank USA, Salt Lake City Branch. It's also worth noting that in 2021, Apple also introduced a white version of the Magic Keyboard for the first time, which is available for both the 11-inch and 12.9-inch ‌iPad Pro‌ models. Design I'm not saying the unique angling isn't a good idea. It's certainly one of the best ideas I've seen for a keyboard case. I'm just saying I think it suffers from being overly designed. The Magic Keyboard is similar in design to Apple's prior ‌Smart Keyboard‌ Folio for the ‌iPad Pro‌, but there are some unique design elements worth noting. There's a USB-C port on the Magic Keyboard that allows for passthrough charging, leaving the USB-C port on the ‌iPad Pro‌ itself open for connecting to displays or accessories. The USB-C port provides power to the ‌iPad Pro‌ inductively, and while it doesn't provide quite as much power as the standard power adapter, it's not too far off.

The magnets are very strong, which means you'll need to use two hands to remove it from the mount. Or really, one finger resting on the keyboard while the other removes the iPad from the mount.
