About this deal

The Protector 16mm chain has the following link dimensions (nominal): 132 x 62mm outside; 100 x 30mm inside, throughout its length (an elongated end link is not required). It is constructed from 16mm diameter bar. The smallest rectangular hole it will fit through is about 62 x 34mm, but that would also be a tight fit. It is again fitted with a protective fabric sleeve, usually a bronze colour (adding about 4mm maximum to the width noted above). Also available as a Noose Chain - see below. In our perfect theft conditions, with plenty of space using our main-powered angle-grinder and 1.2mm disc, we cut through the chain in a relatively short space of time.

Unsurprisingly, bolt croppers are useless against the Pragmasis – it won’t even fit in the jaws of the largest 42mm tool. Big thanks to Piaggio and repair/claims specialist 4th Dimension for supplying parts that allowed us to carry out real-world testing. Both are companies passionate about reducing crime. We have our Sold Secure and Secured-by-Design certificates available online so you can print your own copies, should you need them to prove certification for your insurance company etc. We also offer the Protector 13mm and 11mm chains for situations where the largest chains are too big, too bulky, or simply unnecessary. Chain lengths overall are also nominal and subject to manufacturing tolerance as well as being potentially up to a link over- or under-length, relative to the descriptive length assigned. This is because a whole number of links will invariably not be an exact number of metres or half-metres overall, for example. The Protector 19mm chain has the following link dimensions (nominal): 138 x 63mm outside; 100 x 25mm inside, throughout its length (an elongated end link is not required). It is constructed from 19mm diameter bar. The smallest rectangular hole it will fit through is about 65 x 44mm, but that would be a tight fit and a little more space will make it easier to feed through. All but the end links are surrounded with a protective fabric sleeve (again, to protect your bike/other valuables; not to protect the chain!). The sleeve is usually a bronze colour (adding about 4mm maximum to the width noted above). These high grade Protector 16mm, 19mm, 22mm Titan and 25mm Titan chains really are impossible to bolt-crop by hand. The thieves use Irwin Record 42" bolt croppers as their tool of choice. They are expensive, but of course they don't always buy them... The Protector 16mm and 19mm and 22mm and 25mm chains are all impossible to crop even with this powerful tool. Indeed, if you keep trying to crop one of these chains, it is likely to be the jaws of the bolt croppers that break! If you are considering a chain from another manufacturer, ask if they will guarantee it as impossible to crop with Irwin Record 42" bolt croppers.

This brilliant design creates an extension to your chain that allows it to pass all the way through the bike. With this, there’s absolutely no chance of a thief removing parts of the bike to take it away! The Protector 11mm chain has the following link dimensions (nominal): 84 x 42mm outside; 64 x 20mm inside. It is constructed from 11mm diameter bar and usually has a bronze coloured fabric sleeve (adding about 4mm maximum to the width noted above). It will fit through a round hole about 46mm diameter, or a rectangular hole around 45 x 26mm. Also available as a Noose Chain - see below.Sold Secure Motorcycle/Caravan/ATV/Motor Scooter/Bicycle/Commercial Vehicles/Car & Van Gold Police Preferred Specification Impossible to bolt-crop by hand with standard manual croppers up to and including the Irwin Record 42".) The Protector 16mm chain has the following link dimensions (nominal): 132 x 62mm outside; 100 x 30mm inside, throughout its length (an elongated end link is not required). Quad bikes/ATVs are usually easier to secure than 2-wheel motorbikes but, again, you have to be careful that you really are looping the chain through something structural and not removable. E.g. the rear axle looks appealing but it's no good if the thief can slip off the chain simply by removing a wheel! Suspension wishbones etc are attached with a couple of bolts that can be easily removed. Most quads do have frames with structural members that are suitable but you have to look for them, and ideally loop the chain through several of them. Police Approval: The Protector 11/13/16/19/22mm chains are all accredited under the UK Police Secured-by-Design initiative. They are all Police Preferred Specification. If you’re out and about, look for somewhere well lit and fairly busy. Of course, things can get stolen anywhere, but thieves will prefer to avoid confrontation and CCTV where possible. In London, you can use all the QParks (except Soho) for free on a motorcycle, as well as the City of London car parks. These high-grade Pragmasis Protector 16mm chains really are impossible to bolt-crop by hand. The thieves use Irwin Record 42″ bolt croppers as their tool of choice. They are expensive, but of course they don’t always buy them… The Protector 16mm chain is impossible to crop even with this powerful tool. Indeed, if you keep trying to crop one of these chains, it is likely to be the jaws of the bolt croppers that break! If you are considering a chain from another manufacturer, ask if they will guarantee it is impossible to crop with Irwin Record 42″ bolt croppers. If you want the very best protection you can buy for your bike, the Pragmasis 22mm comes very highly recommended. The Protector 13mm chain has the following link dimensions (nominal): 106 x 48mm outside; 80 x 22mm inside. It is constructed from 13mm diameter bar and has a fabric sleeve that is usually bronze in colour (adding about 4mm maximum to the width noted above). If you've got a round hole 52mm diameter, the 13mm chain should slide through OK. It will also fit through a rectangular hole, e.g. 52mm x 35mm, but that requires the links to settle against each other, and more closely as the slot gets narrower, down to the absolute minimum of around 52mm x 30mm high (where it would be quite fiddley to get it to go through). Also available as a Noose Chain - see below. New: The Protector 25mm Titan Chain! Our Protector 22mm Titan chain was the first product to achieve the Sold Secure Motorcycle Diamond standard. It has now been superseded with the Protector 25mm Titan chain! Even tougher! Absolutely massive and only recommended for exceptional situations or where a succession of thefts have defeated lesser chains.

The Protector 16mm, 19mm and 22mm Titan and 25mm Titan are the highest-approved chains on the market, being the only ones that have Sold Secure Caravan Gold as well as Motorcycle/ATV/Motor Scooter/Bicycle/Commercial Vehicles & Plant/Car & Van, plus Sold Secure Motorcycle Diamond for the 22mm & 25mm TItan chains. This is a reflection of the high grade raw material we use and the heat treatment etc processes we have evolved over several years. You can't buy better! There are videos on the Internet showing inferior, invariably Far Eastern-produced, chains being cut in seconds with bolt croppers. You won't see our Protector 16mm or 19mm or 22mm or 25mm chains being bolt-cropped, guaranteed! The 13mm Pragmasis Protector chain is available in lengths of 0.8-6.0 metres – we’ve tested the 1.5m version, which comes with a tough fabric sleeve, zip-tied at both ends, to protect your paintwork. This type of sleeve –as with other brands – can absorb water, so it’s worth popping it in a carrier bag if you need to transport it after using in the rain. But you should expect a police force to take the full details of when and where the crime occurred, because it’s this intelligence gathering that can –eventually – lead to convictions. And if you are unfortunate enough to have your bike stolen, you can’t always expect the police to turn up and dust for prints. Besides it being an expensive process for an already stretched public service, the scene of a motorbike theft is often simply a space where it used to be. And unless the criminals were on your property when they carelessly left figer prints, the defence could easily be that they happened to be passing and touched the bike before it was pinched.
