You can use garden twine or a strip of scrap fabric. What matters is that it stretches for two metres. Then tie loops at the end and hang each side from a nail or a hook so that the ribbon drapes across the room. Tune into your senses – sight (you might notice 5 things about the place you are in), hearing, smell, taste and touch. Use your sensory information as a way of bringing you into this present moment. Be aware of the physical sensations of standing or sitting – the weight of the body going into the ground.
Allow your experience to be just as it is, without trying to change it or wishing it to be different. Be fully awake and aware of what you are experiencing — ask yourself, what am I experiencing in my mind, emotions and body? The effort that you take to catch up with a loved one over a simple phone call; to update them about your day and to ask them about how they are getting on can contribute greatly to maintaining strong relationships. This helps you and them feel valued, loved, and connected. Show appreciation for your loved ones from time to time with a phone call to remind them of how important they are to you!
