About this deal

It is not so powerful it will cause harm (with our usual below the neck caveats) but this is a good intro to the larger Elite blasters out there. Side note: I should also mention the Nerf Rival Heracles, which is essentially a Kronos with ammo storage…for a lot more money! The Rival Kronos first saw the light of day as a tie-in with the Deadpool movie franchise, but it has now been released in white, Rival Phantom Corps color scheme, which looks really cool! So, I appreciate that we said we wouldn’t include guns in this list that used batteries, but this one only uses 2 AAA batteries, which are small and light, and these are not required to fire it, they are only required to make it light up, so they are not needed to operate the gun. I'd just moved in with my partner for the first time and thought these could be fun for mini battles around the house.

Check out the Classic Swingball All Surface for beginners or the Turbo Swingball for some serious 1-on-1 matches. As you can tell, the Prometheus needs to be held with both arms at the hip, which is different from other Nerf blasters. A small Nerf gun is designed using clever mechanisms and a metallic alloy, resulting in a 3D printed bullet that can shoot an ant three feet away, with CAD files available for viewers to print their own. A compliant mechanism, made from a single part, offers advantages such as fewer parts, lower cost, more precision, lower weight, and no friction or need for lubrication. This goes hand in hand with the size issue – small children need something lightweight to ensure they can handle the toy without losing their balance. The motorized blasters like the Nemesis and springers like the Artemis have long been faves, but there was no good pistol. Regarding performance, the firing velocity and distance with the Ultra Select are pretty reasonable, although not outstanding by any means. I thought long and hard about including the Nerf Hyper Mach-100 on this list of best Nerf machine guns, and ultimately decided that it does deserve a spot. Our range of Nerf Fortnite blasters offers a variety of options to enjoy a safe battle play at home as well as outdoors.

The fire strike might be a bit difficult for some younger kids and prone to breaking the priming handle. Mark Rober explains his yearlong odyssey to break the record for world's smallest Nerf gun five times, culminating in ones made out of DNA. When Mark Rober set out to break the record for world's smallest Nerf gun, he never expected he'd end up making more mini Nerf guns than the total number of actual Nerf guns ever to exist. To prime it, you just pull back the lever at the rear, which has a nice loop making it very easy to grip, so even small kids shouldn’t have too much trouble. It’s a good idea to make sure your kids are not aiming fire above the neck, and to always wear safety glasses, especially when playing a NERF war. The Rival Nemesis, for example, can fire five rounds per second, and the Rival Prometheus tops that with a staggering eight rounds per second.

Accurate, powerful and works well, making it our pick as the best overall as well as the best secondary Rival blaster. ExtremeTech is a federally registered trademark of Ziff Davis, LLC and may not be used by third parties without explicit permission. It’s also good to point out that the Prometheus, for example, comes with a rechargeable battery, which is lighter than a set of regular batteries and much more efficient. So it is not the greatest for NERF wars, but it is great for showing off to your mates and the action to flip between the cylinders never ceases to make me smile! Overall this is a fun little blaster with a cool gimmick that should entertain the younger NERFer for hours. The only thing it lacks it the ability to prime it one-handed, but its excellent form, firepower, and practicality is why it has managed to dislodge our long-term best pick, the Hammershot, as our best NERF pistol! Overall a really nice blaster, but possibly a little too big for smaller kids, but one they will grow into.
