About this deal

The Sofirn Q8 Plus flashlight is powered by 3 x 21700 Li-Ion batteries. The battery indicator lets you know when the battery is low, charging, or fully charged. This flashlight can charge the battery with an integrated charger, and it works with a USB power source. This flashlight has a built-in low voltage protection (LVP) to prevent damage to the cell from over-discharge, so protected cells are not necessary. The blue charging indicators aren’t great either because they aren’t “glanceable”. To determine if my light is done charging I have to look at it for a full ~2 seconds to see whether the blue LED’s are blinking or not. It would be more user friendly if charging status were indicated by different colors rather than by blinking/not blinking. For example, if the LED’s glowed red when charging and turned blue when fully charged, I could glance at the light from the corner of my eye and know its status. That’s also generally easier to understand without having to read the manual. Carry & Ergonomics Updated emitters: 6* XHP50B LEDs. Using 21700 batteries, the maximum output is 16000lm. If you use high-drain batteries the max output can be as high as 24000lm UNBELIEVABLE LONG RUNTIME: Using 3 high-capacity batteries, Q8plus can sustain 1800 lumens for 10 hours, which is as bright as a car light. This high power flashlight has a real long run time, enabling you no longer to worry about power outages. No carry methods are included. You could put this in a belt holster but it’s a little big for that and I don’t know of any that would work well. If you need a lanyard, you’ll have to make one and tie it around the body tube in the milled slots. There’s no lanyard included nor are there any lanyard attachment points.

USB C CHARGE AND DISCHARGE: Sofirn Q8 plus features a built-in type C port that both supports charging and discharging. The indicator light change from flashing blue to steady blue when fully charged. When charging your devices, the indicator light change from steady orange to flashing orange when battery low.(USB C to C cable NOT included) The Q8 Plus is tactical strobe ready. The strobe light is disorienting to the person it is aimed at which makes it difficult for them to concentrate. It has the SOS beacon function for an emergency situation. The SOS flashes Morse code so you can signal for help when needed. The SOS signal is recognized as an international distress call and is used to indicate an urgent need for assistance. Features Battery I find that these fin edges to have anodizing that’s a bit frail. Just a bit of usage and the anno will probably begin to wear off. Below you can also see the stainless bezel. This bezel has a bit of shape, and that’ll allow light to escape when headstanding. I did not do detailed CRI, CCT, or DUV testing because this light is about maximum output, not pretty color properties. Yes, memorizes last on state setting either smooth or stepped ramping, but does not remember blinkiesThe tailcap is removable, but there’s no point; it’s a dumb tailcap. I don’t believe it even carries any current. So while it’s removable (maybe in case you want to do maintenance on the inside or something), there’s no need to do so. Here’s a better look at that cell holder. The cells are surrounded by aluminum very snugly. This seems like it might be just for holding the cells in place (and it is!) but it also serves to move the heat generated from the cells when the light is in high output directly into a fairly good mass of aluminum for heat management. It’s worth noting that I am not sure what the highest regulated level is for this light. The button LED switches from low to high mode when going from level 65 to 66, which usually indicates that’s where the highest regulated output is. However, my testing showed level 67 to be perfectly regulated so the highest regulated level must be 67 or higher. First, the table for Either User Interface. These actions work whether you’re in Simple or Advanced UI. State The performance of the Sofirn Q8 Plus flashlight is measured according to the ANSI / NEMA FL1 Standard 30 seconds after switching the light on. The ANSI/NEMA FL1 2009 Standard is a set of flashlight performance guidelines.

As far as the beam, well, it doesn’t really have one. It has an incredibly wide hotspot that, even at 6 meters, is already 2.5+ meters wide. This is in addition to the fact that it is very soft and blends in well with the spill, essentially giving it a full flood effect and just blankets anything you shine it at in light. Now the box indicated this was the 6500k variant (it also comes in a 5000k model), however, this particular light, using my Opple Lightmaster Pro at 10 meters, came in just above 5500k on lower modes but shot up to about 5900k on higher output modes. Sofirn has used four Cree XHP50.2 emitters in the Q8 Pro. Mine are 5000K, but the most available option is 6500K. Does anyone know more about whether different emitters are used in the Sofirn iteration and if so how they're differing from the ones in the Astrolux?Did already someone get his hands on both so the discrepancy in flux can be confirmed by one person using the same equipment? Warning: This flashlight is recommended for adult use or under adult supervision. Keep out of reach of children!

Yes, when in operation, the light steps down brightness gradually until turning off when the cell is around 2.9 volts.

Q8 Plus includes six Cree XHP50.2 3V emitters in either 6500K or 5000K. I have 6500K. These emitters are designed for efficiency and high output, not great color properties. The lens does not appear to have any anti-reflective coating.Astrolux MF01X: 18 small LED’s instead of 6 big LED’s, very different styling, comes with older Anduril 1 firmware, covered in slots for glow tubes or tritium vials, includes aux LED’s in the front Note: All regulation measurements are taken at turn-on so they do not reflect any thermal or low voltage stepdowns that may occur. A value of 0 indicates low voltage shutoff immediately upon activation. As stated above, they’re in a parallel configuration. That means the driver is expecting 4.2V maximum. Parallel means that the voltage input is the same voltage as one cell (4.2V max) but the capacity adds together from the for cells. The included cells are 5000mAh, so when full, the “battery” (cell holder) is really a 15,000mAh battery. The Q8 plus has a fairly large hole in the center of the emitter shelf for the wires to pass through. There are two holes also providing clearance for the screw heads under the MCPCB that hold the reflector to it. So in this new lights case the reflector for 6 emitters is an assembly with the MCPCB and dropped into the head of the light, pressed into the shelf by the glass lens via the bezel.
