About this deal

e. NOW 1) which makes this set rather interesting and while, of course, the material is full of big pop hits, it inevitably feels a bit ‘fresher’ than the perhaps over-compiled 84/85 era. This amount includes seller specified domestic postage charges as well as applicable international postage, dispatch, and other fees.

As usual, this is a 3CD set and unlike the ‘main’ Yearbooks there’s no vinyl and no deluxe hardcover option, just a six-panel gatefold card sleeve presentation. This album is kind of fantastic all the way through - only thing i noticed lacking was the horrible edited down and strangely tinny version of " The Damned Dont Cry" which is a song i really like and am very familiar with, I wonder what the source was because as soon as the next song kicks in you can really tell how bad a mix they have used. M (Mint): The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. NOW Yearbook ’82 comes as a 4CD deluxe hardcover book edition and a 3LP set pressed on yellow vinyl. This special edition CD is housed in ‘hard-back book’ packaging, including a booklet with a summary of the year, a track-by-track guide, a quiz, and original singles artwork. As a brief sidebar, I can tell you that the contest was held in Harrogate in the UK, in 1982, and 12-year-old me lived there and so I went down to the International Conference Centre and saw the acts arrive! Between these are massive hits from Lionel Richie, Rufus And Chaka Khan, Tina Turner, Alison Moyet, Howard Jones and Frankie Goes To Hollywood. The full track listings are below, but in true 80s pop fashion there’s an eclectic mix of styles and genres with dance, disco, soul, pop, post-punk and even – deep breath – two entries from the year’s Eurovision Song Contest (including Nicole’s number one ‘A Little Peace’). An amazing year for pop is reflected here with a line-up that kicks off with Queen’s iconic ‘Radio Ga Ga’ and finishes with the biggest selling single of the decade, ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas?

saw a huge chart presence for dance music – from the hi-NRG of Boys Town Gang, to the electro-infused beats of Malcolm McLaren, and Rockers Revenge, the 1980’s disco of Shalamar, alongside soul classics from Marvin Gaye and Donna Summer… plus stellar ballads from Elton John, Lionel Richie, and Roxy Music. Fame’ was the TV phenomenon of the year, and its cast, ‘The Kids From “Fame”’, along with Irene Cara’s theme from the original 1980 film, enjoyed massive success. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. But it’s more than just chart-toppers; there’s some great selections here such as both of ABBA’s last two singles (‘Under Attack’ and ‘The Day Before You Came’) neither of which appeared on their last studio album, The Visitors as well as early work from bands like Duran Duran (‘Hungry Like The Wolf’), Spandau Ballet (‘Instinction’), Tears For Fears (‘Mad World’) and Culture Club (‘Do You Really Want To Hurt Me’).

Available on 3LP Yellow vinyl, a Special Edition CD / 4CD Hard-back book’ packaging, including a booklet with a summary of the year, a track-by-track guide, a quiz, and original singles artwork and standard 4CD set. Duran Duran, Haircut 100, Soft Cell, Japan, ABC, The Clash, and The Jam represent some of the greatest artists of all-time, as well as the era – plus pure Pop heaven from Bucks Fizz, Tight Fit and Dollar.

Very Good: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Leading artists from the punk scene enjoyed continued and renewed success, including The Stranglers, The Clash and Pretenders, whilst Foreigner, Meat Loaf with Cher, and Steve Miller Band provided radio-favourite rock and power ballads. VG+ (Very Good Plus): This record has clearly been played before, but has only a moderate reduction in sound quality, despite a possible slight loss of shine and some surface marks. Loved the tracks - since this is a year-specific CD you don't get a lot of the tracks on general 1980s Now compilations. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.
