Flymo is a trusted and well respected brand, where service, parts and support are readily available and very reasonably priced. If the motor overheats the safety fuse activates to prevent coil-damage, cutting power to the motor. The fuse needs to return to normal temperature before the operator can attempt to restart the machine.The 300R comes with a 30-litre grass box that will suffice for a well-kept lawn of 250m². The 340R has a 35-litre box allowing you to keep going for up to 300m² before you need to empty it. And the 380R 45-litre box gives you enough space to collect the grass clippings from a 375m² lawn. Gardena claims it can cope with up to 50m2 but we’d say that’s a little optimistic; with a 22cm cutting width, that’s going to take longer than the 20 to 25 minutes the 2.5Ah battery holds out. What’s more, the mower’s safety feature, which cuts the motor when the handle is too upright or too low, also gets wearing if you’re mowing on uneven ground. Yet we can’t say enough good things about how easy this mower is to store and manoeuvre, how incredibly quiet it is or how neatly it turns grass into a fine mulch. If you don’t have much lawn to mow, this lovely little mower works a treat. All EasiStore electric corded lawn mowers can vary in cutting height, from 20mm up to 60mm. Both the 340R and the 380R have a central height adjustment lever, which changes the height by 10mm at a time. Space-Saving Design: Save valuable space in your sheds or garages with the vertical storage solution I nearly went for the slightly more expensive one but decided on this one in the end. The electric corded EasiStore models are supplied with a 10-metre power cable – this applies to all 300R, 340R, or 380R models. One of the main differences relates to the size of the motor, where the base model – the 300R has a 1200-watt motor, and weighs less than 9kg. The 380R has a 1600-watt motor, which increases the total weight to 12.6kg. Flymo is perhaps one of the most well-recognised names in the lawn mower industry, with its bright orange accents, it is known all over the world. Their EasiStore 340R is a cordless mower that gives its rivals a real run for their money and with a decent 34cm cutting width is ideal for the domestic gardener. However, if you need something even smaller, the EasiStore does have a younger brother with a 30cm cutting width – no one can say that this brand doesn’t offer diversity and a mower for every need. The larger the model, the taller the handle, with the 380R being the tallest at 1-metre. Higher handles will make mowers easier to push, as will a wider wheel diameter. And both the 380R and 340R have 16cm rear wheels — in comparison the 300R has 14cm rear wheels. Thankfully, the Flymo EasiStore gives you a generous number of options with the 5 height settings that range from 25mm to 65mm. This is easily adjusted using the central adjustment lever. A close edge cutting system allows a neat cut right up to edges of the lawn or flowerbeds, reducing the need for trimming afterwards; and a rear roller provides a beautiful striped finish to your lawn meaning its always looking its best.

I found that mowing a lawn with the Flymo Easistore 340R Li was a very pleasant experience. The angle of the handle bar is fully adjustable without any tools so you can set it to a comfortable height.The cut length is adjusted using a handle on the front of the machine and takes literally seconds. I really liked this as it completely avoids turning the mower upside down and having to take the blades off and add or remove spacer washers. A simple single lever for easy adjustments to the cutting height and an extra transport position of the handles to make it easy to move around the garden with ease You have a choice of five cutting heights with the Flymo EasiMow 340R and these range between 20mm and 60mm. The 20mm minimum is great for people who like to keep their grass very short, but the higher end of the scale could be a little more generous, in my opinion, as some mowers go up to 75mm allowing them to cut longer grass. But the features of the handle don’t stop there. Flymo has thought of everything and when it comes to storing this mower, the foldable handle will mean that it can fit into even the tiniest storage space. Added to this, this mower can also be stored in a vertical position and allows the grass collection box to be hung on the stored mower. Having the option of charging the next set of batteries while you are using the mower will open up more options for continued use. However, if you do think you may need extra batteries before you buy the mower, it might work out cheaper just to buy a bigger machine. How does it rate?

What really stood out for me was the long power cable. A lot of people are put off the idea of buying a corded mower because they worry that it’ll limit their reach. Short of using an extension cable, a lot of mowers won’t get to every corner of your garden. However, since the Flymo EasiMow 340R is fitted with a standard 10 metre power cable you’ll be able to reach more of your garden. BladesThe Flymo EasiStore 340R is a cordless mower that gives you the freedom to cut the lawn without being tethered to a cable alongside the power and reliability of 2 20V lithium-ion batteries. It is, without a doubt, one of the most powerful compact mowers on the market and I think that it has a lot to offer. In terms of overall construction, the mower feels very mid-range. It does not feel as sturdy as models such as the Cobra MX41 40V but it does cost less. Some of the plastics do feel a little soft or a little scratchy, but it certainly does not feel like a budget product that will break within a few months. I actually thought it was a significant upgrade on the slightly smaller Flymo Easistore 300R Li that I tested last year.

The EasiStore sets a good example as a model for all-electric mowers on the market. You rarely see an electric mower of this size and price with such a feature as a roller, but one possible reason is the absence of mulching. Mulching Manual push mowers can be great in a small garden, especially if it’s nice and flat. You don’t need to worry about charging or power sources, and a good model does a great job of the grass while being surprisingly easy to push. Where the idea falls down is if the lawn is rough or bumpy, where there’s a slope, or if you like to keep the grass long between cuts, as all these things make the job much, much harder. You really need to cut the grass regularly if you’re going to use a manual mower. What else should you look out for?We tested this model in a variety of different lawn settings and were very pleased with the results. The grass was cut well and the rear roller is great for lawn stripes if you’re trying to impress the neighbours. We found that the 30-minute run time was quite adequate for our medium-size garden and when you use a battery-powered mower, you do realise how much easier it is than worrying where the cable is. The collection of the cut grass was good, certainly compared to a hover mower (which tends to blow clippings everywhere!). If you like a striped lawn then a roller is an essential feature of a lawn mower and this has not been omitted on this Flymo EasiStore 340R. The rear roller can be used to create that neat striped design that is so widely favoured by lawn enthusiasts the world over.
