The distillery's location on the Isle of Islay, known for its abundant peat bogs, allows Laphroaig to create whiskies with a character that is deeply rooted in the island's terroir.

On the nose there are clouds of smoke with an iodine infused sea spray topped with a sprig of seaweed.

This release, batch 15, is the perfect step up from their core bottling as the whisky here has retained all the texture and char .

The peat brings out prominent tastes of a damp forest floor, smoked kippers, liquid bonfire and a hint of iodine. The oiliest, smokiest and briniest of the Islay malts, Laphroaig is definitely a love it or hate it dram. Nose: The nuanced aroma reveals whiffs of sweet cereals, fresh oak and pipe tobacco with touches of leather, nutmeg and vanilla.

Laphroaig 10 Year Old Cask Strength (Batch 15) is a robust expression of Laphroaig's classic 10 Year Old, boasting a bold character and an impressive 56.

Very different to the sweeter malts so be aware and don't knock it back unless you like a strong hit. Aromas of new shoe leather, iodine, smoked trout, flowers, intense grain, soft cheese, peat-reek and dried seaweed.
