About this deal

A. The most likely cause is that you have saved a core, content, or game override for the particular emulator core or game you currently have loaded. Be sure to setup your external controller in Emulationstation by hitting start then Configure Input.

I loved my time with this device during the course of reviewing it and I intend to make it one of my daily drivers, particularly for the 8-bit and 16-bit games that make the most of the iconic appearance it mimics. If you would like to change your settings or withdraw consent at any time, the link to do so is in our privacy policy accessible from our home page. Put your bluetooth controller into pairing mode and select Connect to new Bluetooth device and add your bluetooth device. To me it looks very uncomfortable to use these analogue sticks, especially when combined with the shoulder buttons which are much further up. In addition to this, it has full multipoint capacitive touch capabilities, and it is very responsive, allowing for great Android navigation. Go to the Options section in Emulationstation just above Retroarch and select PS1 - Generate m3u files and when completed, the screen will show what all m3u files were created.

It has a primary SD card slot for the Linux firmware, as well as the possibility of primary storage. While the Nintendo DS runs fine on Linux, using its own build of the Drastic emulator, it does not feature touchscreen functionality. It looks like a Gameboy Color, it walks like a Gameboy Color, but it doesn’t quite quack like a Gameboy Color. The only other differences between these versions are that the RG353V contains a 32GB eMMC for the Android install, and a touch enabled LCD. While on the subject of gameplay quality the RG353V uses the same RK3566 chipset as the RG353P which (if you watched our review) was capped at Dreamcast emulation, and the same goes for this device because it’s almost exactly the same internally.

The RG353V and RG353VS retro handheld emulators from Anbernic offer a choice of Android and Linux OS’s or Linux OS only. I like that they made it pocket friendly, and I appreciate ANBERNIC taking some time to tweak both operating systems alongside a semi-decent chip for retro gaming.

Comparing these results with the RG353P and RG353V models, we can see they are all performing roughly the same as each other. This system runs well on the 353V, and for the more challenging games it provides an auto frameskip that does well at mitigating stutters without impacting your frame-pacing experience too severely.

ArkOS development has been fairly active, with numerous updates for 353 devices released throughout November/December.

A. When you do a safe shutdown (F button + Power Button) while in a Retroarch or Retroarch32 emulator, an auto savestate will be created of the current game and the unit will shutdown. UnofficialOS (or "uOS" for short), a volunteer project powered by JELOS and run by the two-dev team RetroGFX and oOblik, has already begun to release public builds based on JELOS, figuring things out along the way, and continuing support for the 353 series. You’ll immediately recognize this device for it’s resemblance to an old school Super Nintendo controller. The differences between the 2 are quite obvious: the rg353vs is an elite edition of the RG353V, that is to say, it does not have Android, and Touchscreen and wireless projection are not supported. This is further recommended if you intend to install CFW, as the current offerings provide updates that allow for even better performance.
