About this deal

When you select a PSYKER unit to manifest psychic powers, you select one psychic power that unit knows and attempt to manifest it. With the exception of Smite, you cannot attempt to manifest the same psychic power more than once in the same battle round, even with different PSYKER units. The same PSYKER unit cannot attempt to manifest Smite more than once during the same battle round. Honestly, Corsairs are still paying for their previous sins from the Doom of Mymerea book, and their role as cheap filler in Ynnari armies. You might fight your way to the mid-tables with this list (and annoy all the TO’s as you try to wedge your terrain onto a table). but this army remains a meme. Like the Ynnari, the Corsairs remain a half-army that GW doesn’t know quite what to do with. Their aesthetic and place in the lore is great but (beyond a brief time in the sun in 7th ed) this has never translated to great rules. I think GW (or God forbid, FLG) should give Wave Serpents, Falcons and Venoms the “Anhrathe” keyword. This army isn’t going to dominate the meta and this change would not impact other armies in any way. I would like to see more HQ options too, but forcing you to take Yriel might also limit their ability to unintentionally dominate the meta too.

Its Ability Bladed Stance allows it to resolve one hit before its opponent in combat, even if the Kurnathi is the defender, but that hit must be used to parry. This is an elegant and thematic way of granting the Kurnathi some survivability in close combat.In the later stages of a battle, when your kill team has split up to swipe whatever objectives they can, the Plunderers Strategic Ploy lets you give multiple operatives a push in the right direction. Combined with their own free Dash , Corsairs can slide into position for crucial Tac Ops objectives that require both their Action Points, like Plant Signal Beacon. Even low-ranking Corsairs display ostentatious wealth. These Voidreavers won’t leave home without their elegant power swords, a crucial counter to well-armoured infantry – and not bad for a Troops choice! When an enemy operative finishes any kind of movement action, this Ploy allows one friendly nearby operative to perform a free Charge action with a range of up to Square/3 inches if that Charge lets it move within Engagement Range of the enemy operative that triggered the use of the Ploy. Both varieties of Corsair have more than their share of heavier wargear options, but the Voidscarred really shine on the tabletop. They can include specialists such as the psychically gifted Soul Weaver and Way Seeker, or the close-combat fiend Shade Runner. They may also arm up with long rifles, wraithcannons, blasters, shredders, melee weapons, and even a Faolchú, an avian spotter which can be used to deny the effects of light cover.” The Starstorm Duellist is not a melee operative but instead a dual pistol model adept at wiping out enemies at close range with their fusion pistol and shuriken pistols, with the ability to shoot both each time it shoots and the ability to hit targets in engagement range. My first game was against the eventual winner of the tournament (congrats Dan!), running the full gamut of Navy Breacher specialists. Lots of tools, more activations than me, and in many cases as tough or tougher. I sensed that trading models would not go in my favour, plus a vague awareness that Navy Breachers were… good? The Voidscarred kill team has the Recon and Seek and Destroy archetypes, granting it access to the corresponding Tac Ops in the Core Book. In addition to those, the kill team also has access to the following faction-specific Tac Ops. Flawless Raid The Voidscarred Kill Team is an advanced kill team to play in the sense that, while much of its weaponry and abilities are focused on close quarters combat (especially Shuriken Pistols and Power Weapons), the operatives in the team aren’t particularly durable. This can only be worn by a Way Seeker, and it removes the D3 damage you would take from failing to manifest your second psychic power in an activation. You still won’t be able to cast that second power if you fail the roll, but it takes away the one condition that could discourage you from trying. Pathfinder Cloak The Starstorm Duellist is equipped with two pistols: the Shuriken Pistol with its Rending critical rule and the mini-meltagun called a Fusion Pistol, with 5 normal damage, 2 mortal wounds dealt on every critical hit and Armour Penetration 2, but a short range of Square/3 inches.The Corsair Voidscarred are freebooting Aeldari drawn from all walks of life – some found life on the craftworlds just a little too stifling, and abandoned their Path to strike out on their own. Others found the Dark City a touch too gloomy, or the Exodite maiden worlds a bit too full of dinosaurs… Along with this magnificent boxed set, you can also get dice sets for the two kill teams. Surely, the Chaos/Aeldari gods (delete as appropriate) will smile upon your rolls if you’re using the correct dice? The Corsairs dice have the symbol of the Eldritch Raiders on the ‘6’ ( Prince Yriel ’s buddies) while the Chaos Space Marines feature a Legionary helmet. These options aren’t nearly as exciting as what many other kill teams get for their gunners, but the fact that both weapon options are in addition to the good Shuriken Pistol does make the Voidscarred Gunners more versatile than many other Gunner operatives. You can’t, however, field a Gunner in the same kill team as a Heavy Gunner in the Corsair Voidscarred kill team, and since the Heavy Gunner’s weapon options are much more interesting, there’s no reason to make room for a Gunner in this kill team. Voidscarred Heavy Gunner (1 per kill team, can’t be in the same team as a Gunner) Mission actions are specific to the mission you are playing, and will be detailed by that mission’s briefing. A Corsair Voidscarred Kill Team contains 1 Leader and 8 Corsair Voidscarred operatives that you can choose from the options described below. Before you start gluing models together, note that you can’t have a Gunner and a Heavy Gunner in the same kill team! Voidscarred Felarch (Leader, 1 per kill team) The Voidscarred Warrior is the standard operative of the Corsair Voidscarred kill team, but unlike many other standard operatives in other kill teams, the Voidscarred Warrior makes up for its low Wounds characteristic with some pretty cool weapons. Now, while the Shuriken Cannon is definitely a good weapon, the Wraithcannon is something that was missing in the Gunner weapons profile, but in a mega-version: it’s basically a really big meltagun, and that’s something you’ll definitely want in your kill team. The Action Point cost of firing it is pretty high, but with the free Dash action you get every activation, it’s not too bad. Voidscarred Starstorm Duellist (1 per kill team)I seized initiative and opened the game with a move I’m still not sure is good, but is definitely funny and ended up shaping the rest of our final game. Yriel. The only HQ option available to Corsairs Yriel isn’t a terrible option. Given when I played with them last there were no HQ options available (which made list building under the old systems a delight lol) things could be worse. Yriel gives the army an okay close combat punch but runs afoul of the main limitation of the army which we will get to later. Their second unique psychic action is Soul Channel, which you can use to add to another operative’s APL.
