About this deal

Since Fighting Fantasy’s huge success, he has become a major figure in world of computer games, and is currently Creative Director of Eidos, the name behind Tomb Raider. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. The book is full of traps and often times there is no way to know which outcome is favorable and which - not. I would love a pc compendioum of every FF book on pc with scrolling text, online dice, background pictures, funky music and a bit of editing so if you need key items you can backtrack sections.

City of Thieves is a fantasy scenario in which the hero is retained by the village of Silverton to save them from Zanbar Bone, lord of the undead; to do this, the hero must first travel to Port Blacksand to enlist the aid of the magician Nicodemus. The paragraphs with a full page illustration were: 1, 17, 27, 31, 40, 62, 80, 88, 113, 135, 148, 171, 178, 182, 203, 224, 239, 250, 265, 271, 292, 307, 319, 329, 344, 349, 356, 370, 385 and 398.The short sections taking you through the book really helps keep him concentrated and interested, and the scoring system is really clever, as it reminds me of a computer game, which my son unsurprisingly enjoys. But theres enough fans out there that i know one day some wise ass will do this and it will be fucking awesome. Sure enough, when I got to the bridge, there he was – a gruff old wizard who told me to bugger off because he didn’t want to help me. There's also the one little detail of the recipe kill the final boss being wrong - you have to select two out of three items and there is no way of knowing which two. The worst idea in the book - and possibly in any FF book ever - comes right at the very end, where you have to make a choice out of three.

Eventful first attempt - won lots of fights and managed to gather a few of the required items to beat the baddie, but accidentally left the city while fleeing trolls and guards - meaning failure. There were 20 full page illustrations and 6 minor repeated illustrations scattered throughout the text. Since Fighting Fantasy's huge success, he has become a major figure in world of computer games, and is currently Creative Director of Eidos, the name behind Tomb Raider. You are approached by the mayor and asked to go and find a friend of his who lives in the city of Port Blacksand, the city of thieves that the title of the book derives its name. There's not much point in playing these unless you're going to be *mostly* honest, and if you are, they're pretty good fun. One of the interesting things is that these books tend to be very black and white, particularly with the fantasy ones. Furthermore, the only shield they might have found before this gives an Attack Strength bonus, not a skill bonus.

With a starting skill of 9, stamina of 20, and luck 10 we managed to collect some of the needed items for our quest to kill some bad dude who needed killing. I liked the design of the book better - discovering the city, in general, was a lot more interesting than what the previous entry offered. Trading spells and chasing Balthus Dire round his office, or that wily red dragon at the end of Talisman of Death - now those are satisfying boss fights. It was now my firm opinion that Candle Street is the Arkham Asylum of Port Blacksand, so I promised never to go back there again, and instead walked in the opposite direction as fast as I could. and also (79) and (88)) The Serpent Queen's "poisonous fangs" inflict the normal 2 stamina points of injury (though at least in (79) and (88) when she bites you just before the fight she does inflict 1 skill and 4 stamina points of injury).

One of the characters in the book, a Troll named Sourbelly [3] who was one of the city guards and partnered Fatnose, [4] is mentioned again in Deathtrap Dungeon when the hero encounters the female Troll, Ivy.
