If a child is confident in their times tables, they also tend to be more self-assured when faced with new mathematical concepts too, such as fractions and percentages. That's how important a role times tables play in the development of calculation and arithmetic skills. The key to learning multiplication facts is by going over each multiplication table repeatedly. By then showing pupils the multiplication calculation 7 x 9 = 63 this then shows them that 9 and 7 are factors of 63. Using a times table grid in Year 5 or Year 6Expedite: Drag the numbered cards to produce a multiplication fact. Complete twenty mixed times tables questions to earn a trophy. To extend the format further, you could also have a mixture of filled in product cells and empty column / row heading cells to challenge children to work out what the original factors were in your times tables worksheets. x
