Inglourious Basterds Script - transcript from the screenplay and/or the Quentin Tarantino movie Inglourious Basterds Script - Dialogue Transcript Critics' initial reactions at the Cannes Film Festival were mixed. The film received an eight- to eleven-minute standing ovation from critics after its first screening at Cannes, [122] [123] although Le Monde, dismissed it, saying "Tarantino gets lost in a fictional World War II". [124] Despite this, Anne Thompson of Variety praised the film, but opined that it was not a masterpiece, claiming, " Inglourious Basterds is great fun to watch, but the movie isn't entirely engaging ... You don't jump into the world of the film in a participatory way; you watch it from a distance, appreciating the references and the masterful mise en scène. This is a film that will benefit from a second viewing". [125] Additionally, the conversation itself puts the farmer in the hot seat. Hans Landa asks questions and holds onto them until he has an answer, but he does so in such a cool and dry demeanor that one wouldn’t even know that they’ve been had until the conversation is over. A disappointing movie. Not bad but not as good as I was expecting. Tarantino may be loosing it a bit. I tire of his' long dialogues and the fan boy attention he showers on his' leading ladies. In other words. Boring. The scenes with the bastards themselves were great. But the title should have been "The Inglorious Bastards present, a girl's revenge on the Nazi's who killed her' family and a Nazi Officer who talks too much. And a long bar scene that finally ends with everybody dead." I wanted better and didn't get it. Still a good movie that's entertaining in spots. Bradshaw, Peter (September 19, 2009). "Film review: Inglourious Basterds". The Guardian. London. Archived from the original on March 27, 2010 . Retrieved August 20, 2009. This film loses almost all of its characters by the end. It has an unforgettable villain (Hans Landa) and of course Brad Pitt lends some star power. All the characters in this film are interesting, despite most of them not having much in the way of screentime. But he shelved it to make both volumes of Kill Bill and Death Proof. 4. Jason Mraz played a part in helping Tarantino to finish the script. Flynn, Gaynor (May 29, 2016). "Rewind: The Making Of Inglourious Basterds". FilmInk.
