About this deal

Secondly, the Valkyrie and Vendetta can now move 20″ when using the Hover Jet ability. When using this feature the movement characteristic becomes 20″– therefore it cannot move over 20″. Thus eliminating the badness roll for Grav-chute Insertion. You do lose Airborne, Supersonic and Hard to Hit though. The worst thing about this is that the Flyer will now be hit using the enemy’s unmodified BS. But now you can use Grav-chute Insertion safely with no risk to the deploying Bullgryns being slain and this saves you a Command re-roll – maybe.

According to MathHammer a unit of 3 will spit out 12 shots with 6 hits. Against basic infantry, like Guardsmen, 4 shots will Wound and then 1 should be saved via the enemy’s armour save. This results in 3 dead enemy models. For a unit worth 90 points you will struggle to get a decent return of dead enemy modes at this rate. This is only at 12″ range too, which is short. If we assume they make the charge these 3 dead enemy models go up by 4 or 5 models. Giving us a total of 7 or 8 dead enemy models. Assuming they are Guardsmen that is about 28 points worth of dead enemy. Not a lot. I am working on an Inquisitorial warband and have included a squad of Bullgryns as part of the Inquisitors personal bodyguard. I knew the squad would end up being heavily kitbashed, so I decided to start with some fantasy models for some variety. The conversion and fitting for the bullgryn armor was a little more involved than I had expected, but with a little sanding and cutting I ended up with some nice fitting armor. Where the average Ogryn is clumsy and ungainly, Bone'eads are much more coordinated than their primitive brethren and able to wield weapons with surprising dexterity, though their inherent clumsiness can never be completely eradicated. Despite their abilities, they are not particularly well-equipped compared to other Astra Militarum units, often fighting with the same weaponry as their unaugmented brethren.

This is going to be about fun or interesting units I like to field, rather than those that are particularly powerful for the Astra Militarum. Yet, despite this universal proficiency, there are individuals to whom the allure of smashing their enemies to a pulp and breaking their bones with blows from their massive fists is particularly appealing. These are the Ogryns who are always near the front of their unit, eagerly wading into combat with whatever weapon happens to be at hand.

The status of the remaining fifteen Abhuman races is quite varied and there is permanent disagreement about their specific classification amongst the adepts of the Tithes Chamber Notaries. The most noteworthy and contentious matter concerning the adepts is the Ogryn matrix of Abhuman strains. Use a wash, such as Nuln Oil or Drakenhof Nightshade, to add depth and shading to the recesses and crevices of the miniatures. Apply the wash selectively to areas such as the armor joints, shield details, and other textured surfaces. Yet their remarkably resilient physiology often allows them to shrug off such blows without difficulty, ignoring small arms fire and shrapnel as a man might ignore the buzzing of corpse flies.

Having said that I have seen three Bullgryns put ten wounds into a Wraithlord before. The poor guy only had five wounds when I charged him!
