For the weapons I wanted to build something that was easily recognizable as the Jawa Ion Blaster but not over-top-detailed as it was going to be used by nine year olds at night. I had just learned to sew and I had no idea there were recommended standards for Star Wars costumes. What I made was…good enough at the time. The hood was oddly shaped, the mask was all wrong, and the robes weren’t weathered. I planned to redo or upgrade her Jawa costume, not really sure what to remake or repair, and then Hurricane Harveyand our eldest dog made that decision for me. Before I finished building my first set of Stormtrooper armor, I had always planned on building a Jawa. I mean, seriously, Jawas have fun anywhere they go! Here is how I made mine. The Star Wars universe is so big that it there are hundreds of Star Wars costume ideas. Star Wars fans can have a Star Wars Halloween party every year and it would be easy to never repeat a costume idea. DIY Star Wars CostumesI traced the shape I wanted with tailor’s chalk, making sure that the fold was at the shoulders. Basically, the shape is straight along the sides at the top until a few inches below the armpits. From there, it flares out a bit to allow for good draping at the bottom. The skirt part of the robe should be in an A-line shape. Then I cut it all out with a cutting wheel. Easy! These Jawa costumes are super impressive, and all DIY! The robes are made from flat brown sheets and a glue gun using a pattern they found online. The characteristic color of the suit is brown, therefore if you do not get this color you can use a light tone and then dye it. Jawas have been featured in various Star Wars media, including the original trilogy of films, the prequel trilogy, the animated series “Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” and various novels, comic books and video games. They have also been popular among Star Wars fans and have been featured in numerous Star Wars-themed merchandise, collectibles and costumes.

Jawas are known for carrying around a variety of gadgets, so it is important to include two leather utility belts strapped across the body in your costume. These belts will add a touch of realism to your costume and will make it look more like a true Jawa. Please note that this costume is also eligible for membership in The Rebel Legion, although adjustments may need to be made for RL approval. The long brown robe usually comes with bell sleeves and hoods that are pointed, and some manufacturers include a utility belt to go with the outfit. Tools & Weapons Next, I sewed in a wired cable to the front edge, which improved the shape of the hood opening. However, I didn’t like how floppy it still was. The front of the hood shouldn’t dip down over the face. It’s easy to see how the weight of the cable was pulling down the front of that hood. I needed to fix that! Best Gift SALE!!
