The critics were not always kind about this excellent series on BBC TV because they wanted to compare it with Dallas and Dynasty which were being broadcast at the same time.

I feel sorry for all my American friends and family who could not see this because it is only playable on a Region 2 DVD player. When Tom Howard (Maurice Colbourne) is made redundant, he decides to follow his dream of designing and building boats and uses his redundancy payout to purchase a struggling boatyard. The DVDs themselves are brand new, un-damaged and are guaranteed to play on multi-Region DVD players. All 78 episodes of the glossy 1980s BBC drama series following the mixed fortunes of the yacht-dealing Howard family. It is fortunate that we have a region 2 DVD player that I brought with me from UK, as the DVDs are not available for region 1 (North America), but the PAL system does work on High Definition TVs and our own 3D HDTV with beautiful clarity.A cult series in its own right, Howards’ Way featured the original theme tune composed by Simon May.

In fact one can relate to some of the problems facing the cast eg alcoholism, relationship problems, financial wheeling and dealing and most of all sexism. If it wasn't for the TV Chanel DRAMA bringing it to the TV screen it wouldn't have reminded me of the first series on BBC yonks ago which I enjoyed. I would have given this five stars but for the fact that the labelling of discs 1 and 3 are the wrong way around so the transition from Series 1 to 2 confused me a little (I can confirm that I have the 27 Feb. Its an easy watch and may not have the drama we are used to watching these days but I still enjoyed it. We will publish your review of Howards' Way - Series 6 on DVD within a few days as long as it meets our guidelines.

There's romance, of course, but no 'bedroom' scenes and no bad language; the only violence is an occasional fist-fight.
