The midrange has a fantastic body and depth to it, giving the detail of each instrument and Butler’s energetic and raspy vocals (complete with all the little details of a live performance) room to be easily discerned, while the crisp highs puncture through with clarity and crispness. This ultimately led to his turmoil in marriage, his addiction to drugs, and lastly his untimely, sad death. In terms of audio quality, this Dolby Atmos mix almost feels like you’re getting to be at an Elvis concert during the latter half of the film comprised of the 1970s Las Vegas performances. Baz Luhrmann has crafted a stylistic dream of a cinematic experience, bringing together all his experience of Moulin Rouge’s musical explosion and The Great Gatsby’s peak into the soul of a larger-than-life character and produced a sensorial feast that offers a tantalising look behind the curtain of the battle for one of music’s most legendary souls.Central to that journey is one of the significant and influential people in Elvis's life, Priscilla Presley. A stunning Butler performance at its core, the film’s energy and its heart deliver a thoroughly entertaining look into the soul of a modern-day legend. Less successful is Hanks’ Parker – underneath a mountain of prosthetics and a wandering and very questionable accent, Parker veers between having an honest love for the boy he found on that Hayride stage back in 1953 and his pantomimic manipulation and exploitation for personal gain, and there’s just something about the role that never quite lands. All and all, I actually love the film and that’s coming from a lifelong fan of Elvis Presley’s music and someone who has visited Graceland for that very reason.
Its very detailed an introspective on how to reference the past but fit with what works best for the actors and give it a fresh, authentic feel. The same goes for his Elvis picture, however, Luhrmann once again takes an unconventional approach to tell this tragic tale of Elvis's life and career.Unfortunately, like a lot of talented artists, they are easily manipulated by others which resulted in Tom Parker coming aboard and orchestrating a decades-long con on Elvis that prevented him from doing what he wanted.
