About this deal

My main criticism is that this book is labelled as a book for beginners, however the content gets increasingly more difficult towards the end of the book when Loomis dives into complicated perspective and shadow construction drawings with little explanation to aid in understanding them. Though a little complex to read, this would still be a good “rare book find” gift for a budding artist.

This method has proved effective for the novice and to individuals who believed they had no ability at all. Anybody could pick up this book and get a great grasp for how to start drawing and where to progress from there. star for pointless racism (if you wanna draw the receding hairlines of middle aged white men, oh boy, do you have diversity *there* :/.Addeddate 2011-12-08 04:44:34 Coverleaf 0 Identifier andrew-loomis-fun-with-a-pencil Identifier-ark ark:/13960/t0vq3zj8j Ocr ABBYY FineReader 8. Released by Titan Books, London, UK it's worth time spent in studying and performing exercises in each chapter. All in all, a great tool for the artist that wants to move from the low intermediate to high intermediate. pp of drawing instruction by Andrew Loomis, illustrator for Saturday Evening Post, Cosmopolitan, Ladies' Home Journal.

I loved the section on facial expressions and how he encourages drawing from the imagination through the use of the basic construction framework. May contain markings such as bookplates, stamps, limited notes and highlighting, or a few light stains. There are so many lines in these drawings that any beginner would have no idea what they are looking at. Because as a youngster you probably scribbled on Mother's woodwork and wallpaper, in your school books, and on the back fence.I have been working through his exercises in this book and there is so much joy and fun in his work, unlike the tortured self-expression of some modern art instruction books today. That being said anything Andrew Loomis does is classic and provides a pretty solid foundation for those who don't know where to start. here puts down in black and white a method which will teach anyone, no matter who awkward he is with his fingers, to draw. With delightful step-by-step instruction from Professor Blook, Loomis's charming alter ego on the page.
