Although several Study Bibles were a big help to me when I first started reading the Bible, I find that I don't use them much anymore unless I have a particular question about a text. The result is a Bible translation that is both beautiful and uncompromising--perfect for serious study, devotional use, and reading aloud. There are a few others that have some Calvinistic notes here and there, but they also tend to be dispensational to some degree.

Nothing else we offer clarifies God’s Word so comprehensively or provides so much help to people who want to dig deeper into the riches of Scripture.

So, I offer these observations, not in judgment of the subject edition, but as thoughts possibly worthy of review, prayer and consideration.

In the end, I splurged on the Spirit of Reformation Bible because it had vastly more notes than any other study bible. I've never used the NIV Spirit of the Reformation much either, (which I've had for 8-10 years) even though I am loath to part with it. While acknowledging our theological differences, I would agree that he is one of the best dispensationalists and is an excellent speaker. GDPR is the new European privacy regulation, which will replace the Data Protection Act 1998 in the UK and the equivalent legislation across the EU Member States. John is chancellor of The Master's University and Seminary and has written hundreds of books and study guides, each one biblical and practical.The ESV style language certainly feels like it is lifted out of the original Hebrew and Greek into modern English. I highly recommend this for all Christians but especially those who grew up in the church knowing the stories well but maybe missing the cohesiveness of the entire book.
