If a non-believer sincerely asks God’s help or protection in an emergency, he gets it, although God knows he will turn back to sin as soon as he is rescued. The love of Allah should occupy man's heart and get total possession of it; and if it does not seize it entirely, it should at least outweigh the love of all other things in it. At this stage, only one’s mind accepts Allah as Holy, as the Concealer of sins and as Extremely Forgiving.

Say, [O Muhammad], “If you should love Allah, then follow me, [so] Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. This means that if you continue to remember Him, then you will eventually attain a status in which Allah will begin to remember you. By an act of mercy from God, you [Prophet] were gentle in your dealings with them- had you been harsh, or hard-hearted, they would have dispersed and left you- so pardon them and ask forgiveness for them. Here we are told by Allah that He has gifted us with rain and with water to be able to cleanse ourselves. It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that: the Prophet said: “A woman may be married for four things: Her wealth, her lineage, her beauty or for her religion. One means to attain divine love is that one should try to make Allah a shield in every matter and issue.

In other words, love for others does not necessarily have to contradict with Allah’s love, as long as we love others for the sake of Allah s. With regards to your questions, Allah’s direct speech in the Quran and the Prophet’s hadiths tell us about what Allah loves. Let us therefore look into the Holy Quran – the definite authoritative word of God – to understand the true importance of forgiveness.

Whoever has the means, let him get married, and whoever does not, then he should fast for it will diminish his desire. Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that Allah’s Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Who-ever says ‘Subhan Allahi wa bihamdi hi’, one hundred times a day, will be forgiven all his sins even if they were as much as the foam of the sea. He is absolutely just and fair to the minutest detail, so everyone gets exactly what they deserved, plus extra measures of compassion, mercy, and forgiveness.
