The design for Fife College is class leading with regards to its operational energy performance and is therefore being used as a Pathfinder project, with a strong focus on also diverting as much of the construction waste from landfill as possible. Every aspect of the new campus has been designed with learners in mind and is being carefully created to give students the best experience and facilities for their course. The new College is taking a fabric first approach and once complete will bring together around 4,500 school pupils and college students. To be one of only 20 buildings shortlisted at the Wood Awards is an achievement in itself, and testament to all the hard work that has gone into the design, delivery and submission for NMIS up to this point.

The third generation HR-V also adopts full hybrid technology for the first time. Aiming to promote collaborative working, sustainability and innovation, the facility’s design maximises the technical and aesthetic capabilities of engineered timber, creating an advanced two-storey structure that is carbon neutral and optimised for productivity. Figures are shown as a range under WLTP testing measures. The lowest figures refer to the most economical/lightest set of options. The highest figures refer to the least economical/heaviest set of options.

BKHS were engaged under a PCSA to develop the Deltabeam and CLT solution with the project team, including detailed vibration analysis of the long span floor plate and the development of critical connection details.
